The Water Quality Program continuously monitors all tribal tributaries that feed Lake Sakakawea. A baseline has been established as a healthy reference while each spring and fall sampling season provides an inventory of new data. Deviations from the standard baseline are closely monitored each year.
Pesticides Control Officer monitors the use of Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs). As a certified inspector, the Control Officer has the duty to inspect and report possible usage of RUPs to both the MHA Nation tribal government and EPA Region 8 for possible enforcement.
Tribal Response Program (Brownfields) provides the identification and cleanup of toxic chemicals and dumpsites on the reservation using US EPA guidelines found under RCRA, CERCLA, and various provisions within the Federal CFRs. This includes any building that is contaminated with toxic waste.
Oilfield Compliance Program provides oversight of oilfield releases of hazardous and special waste as defined in the Three Affiliated Tribes Solid and Hazardous Waste Management and Remediation Code (Title 15).
Underground Storage Tanks: To provide assistance to all tribally (segment) owned fueling stations. Assistance includes continual communication with EPA Region 8 and fuel station managers in order that all compliance markers be kept current.
