The primary purpose of the MHA Planning & Grants Department is providing technical assistance, researching grant sources, and writing grant proposals for Three Affiliated Tribes (TAT) programs and departments.

The Planning & Grants Department is further involved with tribal planning as it relates to the judicial branch of the tribal government. It is participating with other TAT departments by providing vital grant writing and technical assistance in their endeavors. It further desires to address the impacts and shocks from the ongoing oil development on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation which is a stated interdepartmental goal.

The mission of the Planning & Grants Department, through its grant writing capabilities and expertise, is to “utilize an effective planning process of all tribal resources.” The Planning & Grants Department further aspires to “meet the needs of the Three Affiliated Tribes and its communities,” according to Ms. Shelia Many Ribs, who is the Director of the MHA Planning & Grants Department.
