Fort Berthold District Court Judges
The role of the Judge may play many roles. They interpret the law, assess the evidence
presented, and control how hearings and trials unfold in their courtrooms. Most
important of all, judges are impartial decision-makers in the pursuit of justice. It is the
duty of the Judge to conduct a fair and impartial hearing, to assure that the facts are
fully elicited, to adjudicate all issues and avoid delay. The Judge shall have authority
with respect to cases assigned to him/her, between the time he/she is designated and
the time he/she issues the decision, subject to the rules and regulations of the Code of
Laws of the Three Affiliated Tribes.
